Event Details:
Caregiver Skills Training Workshops are for family caregivers to learn practical skills and receive hands-on training.  Guided by health care professionals, caregivers learn how to provide everyday care for their loved ones with dementia or other chronic conditions.

This five-hour training is designed to be flexible and interactive so that caregivers get their questions addressed.  Parking and a light lunch will be provided.

This workshop will cover the following topics:

Core Topics (covered every month)

  • Nursing Care
  • Occupational Therapy (Transfer and fall prevention)
  • Nutrition Management
  • Speech and Communication

Possible Electives Covered (choose 3)

  • The Virtual Dementia Tour (offered monthly)
  • Dental Hygiene
  • Audiology
  • Physical Therapy
  • Difficult Behaviors
  • Urology/Bowel/Bladder

Cognitive Engagement Program

Our Cognitive Engagement Program is for people living with dementia or another chronic condition to attend while their caregiver participates in the workshop.  They will be guided by a health care professional in a tailored activity. *Registration is required at least three days prior to the Skills Training Workshop.*
