Memory Cafè at D5 Senior Center

Join us for this Texas Memory Cafè Network gathering at District 5 Senior Center. Activities will include loteria with prizes, champurrado, and conversation.

What are Memory Cafès?: Persons living with dementia and their families are at higher risk for social isolation and poor connectedness than families who are not impacted by dementia. Memory Cafès create an opportunity for intentional connection with others in your community who are living similar experiences. The activities are dementia friendly and encourage cognitive stimulation while also providing an opportunity to connect with others.

History: The SA Amigos Memory Cafè is part of the Caring for the Caregiver program. During the pandemic, we switched our gatherings to be mostly online. We are finding our way back to in-person gatherings and to do this, we are partnering with other Memory Cafès in our area to combine our efforts and bring more families together.

This event is hosted by the Texas Memory Cafè Network which include the SA Amigos of Caring for the Caregiver (UT Health San Antonio), Arden Courts Memory Cafè of ProMedica Senior Care, and the Forget-Me-Nots of the Alzheimer's Association San Antonio and South Texas Chapter.

COVID-19: This gathering is hosted at a Senior Center where older adults gather to enjoy activities, meals, and education with others in their community. To respect the health and safety of all seniors and staff at the D5 Senior Center, please wear a mask and do not attend if you are feeling under-the-weather.
