I, Ashlie Glassner, BSN, RN, am a nursing PhD student at UT Health San Antonio partnering with Paula Baily, a woman living with dementia, on a research study. The purpose of this study is to learn more about the experiences people have living with dementia. We want to use information from this study to inform future studies and develop interventions to help improve the mental health and quality of life of persons living with dementia. We are currently recruiting persons living with dementia who are 65 years or older and live in the San Antonio area.

In this study, participants will be asked to complete a survey via phone, Zoom or in-person. Survey topics include beliefs about dementia, anxiety, depression, and quality of life. The survey will take approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete. Participants may also be asked to do an interview. During interviews, participants will be asked about 1) their experiences living with dementia, 2) what changes have occurred since they developed symptoms of dementia, 3) how they might view themselves differently since developing dementia symptoms, and 4) how they have coped with these changes. Interviews can also be done via phone, Zoom or in-person. Interviews will take about 60 to 90 minutes to complete. As a way to say thank you, participants will receive a gift card after completing surveys and/or an interview.

If you or someone you know might be interested in participating please feel free to reach out to me at: glassner@livemail.uthscsa.edu or 210-900-2871.
